Alumni Spotlight: Luke Russell

Luke is one of our graduates from our Spring 2020 cohort. He and his fellow classmates experienced our immersive program differently than any cohort before. Due to Covid-19, they were forced to complete their final weeks and capstone projects remotely. Even with the added challenges, Luke pressed on and finished strong. In the end, Luke received and accepted a job offer from Scansource as a Digital Marketing Developer. Below Luke talks about his experience after graduation.

My transition from code school to my full time job, like any other during COVID-19, was definitely an interesting one. The company I work at now reached out a week or so after I finished code school but I was not offered the job until June, due to a hiring freeze at the company. During that time, I was allowed to come into the code school to practice and build on my existing knowledge that I learned in the course. I had multiple meetings with Logan and Lelia which helped me stay focused and encouraged during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially with different job offers coming in. Logan still checks in very regularly and the Slack channel of current and former students is very active with job opportunities, problem solving, and events in the area. I am super thankful not only for the actual course, but also for the continued support from the staff as well as students who have gone through the program.
